Bodie – lifeguard on-duty, employee of the year – 2015-2022

Born in 2010, Bodie inherited his big mutant tongue from his mom and goofy calm from his dad. The moment he met his human-to-be, Bodie immediately climbed into his new pop’s lap and staked claim to a new home. For 4+ puppy years, Bodie enjoyed an active life full of dog beaching and parking, but life suddenly changed in 2015 with IVDD. When surgery failed and the vet suggested euthanasia, Bodie’s soulful eyes answered with a resounding “no:” he would dig deep and adapt. Bodie’s grit was matched by Maja and the Tsavo’s team’s generosity of strength and spirit, whose awe-inspiring expertise, diligence, and love continue to lift him up.

In the later chapter of his life, Bodie mentored UCSD student projects prototyping carts for special needs dogs and was the lead talent in the band Bulldogge Davey. He also discovered his true passion in life: swimming. In the pool, Bodie regained full autonomy, and his puppy-like joy returned. When he wasn’t in the water, you could find Bodie poolside, offering companionship and encouragement to the brave pups and dedicated humans visiting for rehab at Tsavo’s.  

Bodie passed suddenly in 2022.  He was part of the Tsavo’s family & will never be forgotten.
